Job description

Job Opportunity: PSV Engineer/Mechanic at Arriva

Arriva, one of the largest transport organisations in Europe, is seeking an experienced and ambitious PSV Engineer/Mechanic to join our garage at Darlington Depot. This role involves maintaining our fleet of PCV vehicles and reports directly to the Engineering Manager. The position requires shift work, including early, late, and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities:
  1. Servicing and repairing vehicles to Arriva and DVSA standards
  2. Continuous improvement of vehicle standards
  3. MOT preparation
  4. Diagnosing vehicle faults and ensuring reliability and maintenance adherence to Arriva standards (which exceed DVSA requirements)
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of PSV/HGV maintenance with recognised qualifications (e.g., Level 3 NVQ)
  • The ability to work safely and independently according to pre-set standards and guidelines
  • Electrical knowledge is desirable but not essential
  • Having a PCV license is desirable but not essential
  • Experience in vehicle inspection for scheduled maintenance (training can be provided); IRTEC accreditation is advantageous
