The ideal candidate has a degree in engineering, at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, and strong CAD skills in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Job description
Overview

Engineering Technical Specialist – permanent, full-time day shift (Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours/week). The role is hands-on and reports to the Engineering Director, managing engineering projects from concept to completion, supporting both new product development and ongoing operational improvements. You will drive engineering excellence, liaise with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders, and provide technical advice on machinery maintenance while supporting key business functions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver engineering projects (Capex & improvements) from start to finish
  • Create technical drawings and 3D models using CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Solve engineering problems and recommend manufacturing process improvements
  • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and specifications
  • Stay current with emerging engineering technologies and best practices
Skills & Experience Required
  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical bias preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years' hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing environment – role will be 70% shop floor
  • Strong CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Knowledge of electrical systems (PLCs, pneumatics, AC/DC drives)
  • Experience with problem-solving tools (8D, FMEA)
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and MS Project
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Organised, detail-focused, and comfortable working under pressure
Desirable
  • Six Sigma or lean manufacturing experience
  • Black Belt qualification or Statistical Process Control knowledge
