As Engineering Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a small team of engineers during your shift, ensuring high performance, safety, and maintenance of production assets in a 24/7 operation. You’ll act as the first point of contact for technical issues, while also supporting continuous improvement and digital maintenance initiatives.
Lead and coordinate shift-based engineering activities, allocating work and setting daily priorities.
Respond to and resolve complex breakdowns, working closely with production teams to minimise downtime.
Mentor and develop team members, including apprentices and new starters.
Ensure scheduled preventative maintenance is completed effectively and challenge current methods where improvements are identified.
Drive best practice in Health & Safety and Food Safety, leading by example in all aspects of compliance.
Use data (OEE, downtime trends, MTTR, etc.) to influence decisions and support long-term reliability improvements.
Champion the use of digital systems (e.g., MaintainX) for maintenance reporting, SOPs and asset tracking.
Electrically biased, multi-skilled engineer (ideally 60/40 electrical/mechanical).
Qualified to at least Level 3 in Engineering (electrical preferred).
Previous experience in a leadership or senior engineering role within a manufacturing environment (FMCG or food production highly desirable).
Confident in mentoring others and managing shift workloads.
Strong understanding of safety procedures, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
Ambitious, hands-on, and motivated to step up into a future Engineering Manager position.
Join a well-established and growing manufacturer with strong values and long-term stability.
Be part of an exciting phase of growth and investment, with opportunities to shape the engineering culture.
Clear progression path to Engineering Manager for the right candidate.
Contribute to a high-performing team in a business that truly values its people.
