Job description

You're an Engineering Team Lead, ideally with 10 years' experience, who's excited to forge a new way to save. You're excited about producing and maintaining high quality systems to achieve business objectives through contributions to the development process, including system design/architecture and performance management of the team.

You work in partnership with relevant teams across an organisation to identify how technology can solve business challenges and will be capable of answering "how and why" technology is designed and delivered. As an Engineering Lead, you will coach and mentor other Engineers, helping them develop better solutions and understand system design with a focus on their career progression and personal development.

You will also be responsible for effective performance management and driving an environment of high performance. The Engineering Lead will also support the Product Manager in terms of understanding & scheduling of upcoming work including resourcing, and will be responsible for the day-to-day running and delivery of the squad's work stream.

We are a Microsoft shop, so our core language is C# and our platform is entirely in the cloud on Azure where we use a variety of PaaS type services including Web Apps, Functions, Azure SQL, Cosmos, Azure Service Bus, AppInsights, APIM etc.

Requirements
  • Proven team leadership and line management experience, including coaching, mentoring, performance development, and supporting team wellbeing
  • Excellent commercial development experience with C# / .Net / .Net Core.
  • A good understanding of SOLID principles, Event Driven Architecture (EDA) and Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
  • Experience of RESTful API design
  • Experience of Azure cloud development, and a cloud-first approach
  • SQL skills
  • A good foundation in Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies, demonstrating proficiency in writing and maintaining test cases using one or more of the following libraries, or similar: NUnit, Microsoft.TestFramework and Selenium
  • Emotional intelligence. You actively listen and provide thoughtful solutions
  • Proactivity and the ability to demonstrate initiative positively and collaboratively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
