The company is a uniquely positioned early-stage Fintech that is reshaping the credit landscape for Consumers and SMBs, led by an experienced FinTech Entrepreneur.

As they push on to the next stage in their development, they are keen to appoint an experienced Engineering Team Lead to strengthen and build out the Engineering team and power their mission further.

This role will report straight to the Founder & CEO.

As the Team Lead, you will be responsible for:

• Building the Engineering team (hiring, onboarding, and setting standards).
• Designing and running best practice processes, working alongside the CPO and Chief Data Scientist.
• Ensuring the suitability of the codebase, whether for MVPs or mission-critical services.
• Identifying improvements in the systems and contributing to any engineering backlog for major initiatives.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and implement solutions.
• Serving as a key member of the delivery team, helping to shape immediate goals.
• Representing the company in interactions with external firms, reviewing their software offerings and advocating for the tech stack with Investors.
• Approximate split – 60% coding / 40% mentoring, advocating, presenting, and meeting.

Ideally, you will be able to offer the following technical competencies:

• Extensive experience in JavaScript, including in-depth knowledge of asynchronous programming, TypeScript, closures, and ES6.
• Proficiency in NodeJS and React development (Web/Native).
• Proficiency in both relational and schema-less databases.
• Strong emphasis on continuous integration, delivery, and testing (experience with the latest tooling preferred).
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, in-depth experience of AWS Web Services.
• Proficient in the design and implementation of serverless architecture.
• Track record of building high-performance, scalable applications.
• Proven ability to build and maintain the backend aspects of our CI/CD pipeline.
• Comprehensive understanding of application security, authentication, and related cryptography.
• Familiar with performance monitoring tools and can calmly manage production issues.

Ideally, you will offer some experience of working in a small team, in a distributed and remote work environment.

You will need to be comfortable traveling, as it is expected that in this role you could be away for 7 – 10 days, every 6 – 8 weeks or so.

Location-wise, you can be based anywhere as long as you are 1 -2 hours time difference from Western Europe.
