Engineering Systems Technician - Night Shift

Location: Plymouth, England, United Kingdom

Salary: £30,000 to £34,000 + Bonus + Shift Premium + Pension Match

Shift: Rotating Nights (3 days on, 3 days off, 11pm – 11am)

Job Description:

The Engineering Systems Technician will support the Process group in addressing technical challenges within production areas. This onsite role involves applying technical expertise, problem-solving, mentoring technicians, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The position offers a competitive salary with a 48% shift premium.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to resolve complex machine faults.
  • Act as a process expert for specific equipment and share knowledge.
  • Mentor Production Technicians in fault diagnosis and technology use.
  • Use technology (PCs, HMI screens, MES) for fault diagnosis and equipment management.
  • Identify and implement improvements to equipment focusing on cost, productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Assist during installation and startup of new equipment, supporting continuous improvement.
  • Lead small process improvement projects involving cross-functional skills.
About You:
  • Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in high-volume assembly and manufacturing roles.
  • Proficient in IT systems, including SAP, for maintenance logging and fault diagnosis.
  • Strong fault-finding skills and technical problem resolution ability.
  • Desirable: hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, electrical, and servo systems knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, patience, and mentoring skills.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Proven track record in similar manufacturing environments.
  • Mechanical or Electrical Level 3 Engineering Qualification.
