Job summary

Murphy is hiring for a Digital Geospatial Engineering Surveyor to join our growing Digital Geomatics team. Based in our Hemel Hempstead office, this role blends office-based delivery with field operations across UK projects.

You will develop digital workflows, process geospatial data, and work with technologies like UAV surveys, laser scanning, and machine control, while maintaining high data quality and supporting project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Experience within Engineering Surveying, Geomatics or Topographical Surveying.
  • Good understanding of survey control, GNSS and total station methodologies.
  • Experience processing survey data and producing deliverables.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and StarNet.
  • Experience with N4CE, Leica Infinity, Cyclone Register360, Trimble Business Centre, Propellor, DJI Terra or similar.
  • Knowledge of laser scanning and point cloud workflows.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality assurance principles.
  • Highly proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Flexible and willing to travel to project sites and stay away from home when required to support project delivery and operational requirements across the UK.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Utility surveying or PAS128 experience.
  • Bathymetric survey experience.
  • UAV survey experience and/or CAA GVC qualification.
  • GIS, Digital Engineering or BIM knowledge.
  • Experience working on major infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

Job description

Murphy is hiring for a Digital Geospatial Engineering Surveyor to join our growing Digital Geomatics team. This role sits within our Applied Engineering Division, based out of our Hemel Hempstead office.

This role is ideal for an experienced surveyor looking to develop their career within digital delivery, geospatial data processing and emerging survey technologies, whilst retaining involvement in operational survey activities.

Working across major infrastructure projects throughout the UK, you will support the processing and delivery of survey data across a range of disciplines including Engineering Surveying, Site Control, Laser Scanning, Utility Mapping, Monitoring, UAV Surveys, Bathymetric Surveys and Machine Control.

The role combines office-based technical delivery with opportunities to support field operations, UAV data capture, machine control projects and wider surveying activities where required. We are looking for someone with strong surveying fundamentals who understands how data is collected on site and can use that knowledge to validate, interrogate and deliver high-quality geospatial information.

As part of our Digital Geomatics team, you will help develop and improve digital workflows, support project delivery and contribute to the continued growth of our geospatial capabilities across the Murphy business.

A day in the life of a Murphy Engineering Surveyor:
