Job summary

VPK Packaging UK and Ireland is seeking an Engineering Supervisor in Selby to support the Engineering Manager in leading and coordinating maintenance activities. You will supervise engineers and technicians, ensure equipment reliability, promote safety, and drive continuous improvement.

You will plan and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, monitor uptime, manage projects with contractors, and mentor team members while maintaining detailed records.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in an engineering or maintenance supervisory role.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and engineering best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support engineering and maintenance teams to ensure efficient daily operations.
• Plan, schedule, and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Monitor equipment performance and implement improvements to maximise uptime and reliability.
• Coordinate engineering projects, installations, and upgrades.
• Manage contractor activities and ensure work is completed safely and to specification.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and development opportunities for team members.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation.
• Support root cause analysis and problem-solving activities for equipment failures.
• Manage engineering resources and materials effectively.
