Engineering Supervisor

The Role
As the post holder, you will be expected to have an extensive understanding of Building Services Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & associated assets). As the lead member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for effective inspection, operation, and maintenance of all associated assets within the critical facility, with a primary focus on enhancing the quality of service delivery through effective leadership of the team and exceptional customer service.
You will ensure that the conduct of any personnel under your control is safe, professional, and conscientious. You will also be required to attend site meetings with the client and on behalf of the client as requested. Driving a Safety-First culture throughout the team on the account, leading through your experience and knowledge of safe systems of works and compliance.
You will be authorized to issue PTW, ensuring compliance with method statements, risk assessments, and safety procedures. You will ensure that the conduct of any personnel under your control is safe, professional, and conscientious.
Key Tasks - Duties to include:
- Supervision, coordination, and support of the engineering team.
- Operate all systems within the facility effectively and efficiently, including LV Switching Operations.
- Make recommendations for improvements and provide concise technical reports when required.
- Manage all activities related to the technical and efficient operation of the building systems, including all MEP assets, ensuring statutory compliance.
- Support planning and execution of specialist vendor works, ensuring proper change management approval for critical works.
- Ensure vendor worksheets are signed off, work quality is inspected, and recommendations are communicated proactively.
- Ensure compliance with contractual SLAs by the team and vendors.
- Operate the Corrigo CMMS system accurately, ensuring all work orders are completed within SLA and properly documented.
- Complete all work orders accurately, including detailed notes and time tracking.
- Report on critical systems' status and risks daily.
- Attend weekly and quarterly team meetings.
- Prepare daily engineering reports, noting significant activities.
- Manage critical spares, including stock auditing and procurement.
- Report and review critical incidents and near misses.
- Ensure all planned maintenance complies with OEM/SFG20/NGM standards.
- Escalate equipment issues promptly.
- Review vendor reports and follow up on recommendations.
- Prepare and review operational procedures and participate in drills.
- Promote continuous safety improvements, including TBTs and near-miss reporting.
- Escalate vendor performance issues as needed.
- Maintain resource levels and support on-call operations.
- Take ownership of areas under your control, maintaining high standards.
- Liaise with supply chain for parts procurement.
- Participate in training and personal development initiatives.
- Conduct technical assessments and skills gap analyses.
- Coach new employees during onboarding.
- Participate in quality assurance audits.
- Follow all account-specific responsibilities.
- Respond to critical alarms and undertake mechanical reactive tasks as required.
Personal Specification:
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in critical environments like data centers or banking.
- LV Authorised Person with experience in LV systems.
- Electrical/Mechanical Engineering HNC or HND, or equivalent apprenticeship.
- C&G Pts. 1 & 2 or higher.
- 17th Edition IEE Wiring and Installation (18th Edition training preferred).
- IOSH Working Safely or NEBOSH equivalent.
- IPAF certification.
- L8 Awareness Training.
