Engineering Shift Leader - Food Manufacturing

Location: Poole
Salary: 57,523
Shift Pattern: Panama (12-hour days, average of 3-4 shifts/week)

Are you a proactive, hands-on engineering professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for continuous improvement?

We're looking for an Engineering Shift Leader to take ownership of equipment performance, team development, and reliability within a busy, fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

You'll lead a skilled team of engineers focused on minimising downtime, enhancing operational efficiency, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and compliance.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day engineering operations across a high-volume production site.

  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and food safety standards.

  • Drive proactive maintenance, rapid response to breakdowns, and effective handovers.

  • Support and coach engineers in both technical tasks and personal development.

  • Maintain accurate records within a CMMS system.

  • Collaborate closely with Production to improve line performance and reduce waste.

  • Participate in continuous improvement and project activities.



What You'll Need

  • Time-served apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualifications (mechanical or electrical).

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Pneumatics, hydraulics, inverters, PLCs, and servo systems.

    • Maintenance best practices (preventive/predictive).

    • Food safety and quality standards in an FMCG or similar setting.

  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Clear communication and the ability to manage and motivate a small team.

  • High standards of personal accountability and problem-solving initiative.
