To support our progress, we are currently recruiting for an Engineering Shift Supervisor to join our team at our Supreme Concrete Factory in Sittingbourne ME10 3SL.
Main Responsibilities
- Safely coordinate, plan, and execute maintenance at the Sittingbourne operation.
- Manage shift Engineers, overseeing breakdowns and PPM planning, ensuring smooth production processes.
- Ensure compliance checks and PPMs are completed accurately and timely, with records sent to the responsible person.
- Plan and execute corrective maintenance actions from inspections and audits within expected time frames.
- Coordinate and implement actions or improvements on the "T-Card" system promptly.
- Manage site shift engineers and contractors, ensuring safety and effectiveness, including control through RAMS and Permit to Work.
- Proactively achieve and exceed standards in Health and Safety, Housekeeping, Financial, Quality, Customer Service, and Environmental areas.
- Manage spares and stock parts efficiently, ordering based on lead times, costs, and risks, and maintaining stock records daily.
- Collaborate with Site Production and Engineering Managers to maximize factory performance.
- Support the Site Engineering Manager when needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement plans for future growth.
Additional Duties
- Lead safety-first maintenance activities.
- Manage, develop, and motivate the engineering team.
- Conduct accident and incident investigations as required.
- Act as key contact for weekend work, maintaining communication with the Weekend Duty Manager.
- Manage permits for maintenance activities.
- Oversee PPM systems to maximize machine performance and reduce breakdowns.
- Plan major maintenance with production to minimize disruption.
- Organize work for engineers and contractors, from job specification to completion.
- Drive continuous improvement to reduce health risks and record improvements.
- Use problem-solving tools for improvement planning.
- Lead proactive maintenance improvements.
- Coordinate purchasing of spares, avoiding overstocking.
- Communicate maintenance needs clearly to teams.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Ensure high standards of plant maintenance.
- Develop the engineering team to meet standards.
- Apply continuous improvement techniques to exceed KPIs.
- Support broader business strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all factory systems (Health & Safety, Environmental, Financial, Quality, Customer Service).
- Maintain effective cross-department communication.
- Conduct performance reviews with team members.
- Assist with fault finding alongside the maintenance team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: IBP3M qualification, ILM2, IOSH Managing Safely.
- Desirable: ILM3, NEBOSH.
- Experience in mechanical and electrical engineering, production, and people management.
