To support our progress, we are currently recruiting for an Engineering Shift Supervisor to join our team at our Supreme Concrete Factory in Sittingbourne ME10 3SL.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Safely coordinate, plan, and execute maintenance at the Sittingbourne operation.
  2. Manage shift Engineers, overseeing breakdowns and PPM planning, ensuring smooth production processes.
  3. Ensure compliance checks and PPMs are completed accurately and timely, with records sent to the responsible person.
  4. Plan and execute corrective maintenance actions from inspections and audits within expected time frames.
  5. Coordinate and implement actions or improvements on the "T-Card" system promptly.
  6. Manage site shift engineers and contractors, ensuring safety and effectiveness, including control through RAMS and Permit to Work.
  7. Proactively achieve and exceed standards in Health and Safety, Housekeeping, Financial, Quality, Customer Service, and Environmental areas.
  8. Manage spares and stock parts efficiently, ordering based on lead times, costs, and risks, and maintaining stock records daily.
  9. Collaborate with Site Production and Engineering Managers to maximize factory performance.
  10. Support the Site Engineering Manager when needed.
  11. Participate in continuous improvement plans for future growth.
Additional Duties
  1. Lead safety-first maintenance activities.
  2. Manage, develop, and motivate the engineering team.
  3. Conduct accident and incident investigations as required.
  4. Act as key contact for weekend work, maintaining communication with the Weekend Duty Manager.
  5. Manage permits for maintenance activities.
  6. Oversee PPM systems to maximize machine performance and reduce breakdowns.
  7. Plan major maintenance with production to minimize disruption.
  8. Organize work for engineers and contractors, from job specification to completion.
  9. Drive continuous improvement to reduce health risks and record improvements.
  10. Use problem-solving tools for improvement planning.
  11. Lead proactive maintenance improvements.
  12. Coordinate purchasing of spares, avoiding overstocking.
  13. Communicate maintenance needs clearly to teams.
  14. Maintain accurate maintenance records.
  15. Ensure high standards of plant maintenance.
  16. Develop the engineering team to meet standards.
  17. Apply continuous improvement techniques to exceed KPIs.
  18. Support broader business strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  19. Ensure compliance with all factory systems (Health & Safety, Environmental, Financial, Quality, Customer Service).
  20. Maintain effective cross-department communication.
  21. Conduct performance reviews with team members.
  22. Assist with fault finding alongside the maintenance team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Essential: IBP3M qualification, ILM2, IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Desirable: ILM3, NEBOSH.
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical engineering, production, and people management.
