Job description

We are looking for an Engineering Shift Manager to join our Manufacturing Operation in Gadbrook Produce (Northwich).

The responsibilities for this role are crucial to ensuring the smooth operation of the manufacturing site.

Responsibilities:

• Minimizing Machinery Downtime: Proactively maintain, predict, and respond swiftly to machinery breakdowns to ensure operational equipment and maintain production schedules.
• Improving Performance: Continuously seek opportunities to enhance equipment performance through process optimization, upgrades, or data-driven improvements.
• Engineer Engagement: Foster a positive work environment, provide training opportunities, and recognize achievements to motivate the engineering team.
• Asset Care Programme: Lead and support strategies for maintaining and prolonging asset life, reducing costs, and adhering to best practices.
• Hands-On Approach: Be actively involved in repairing and optimizing equipment to set an example and address issues promptly.
• Maintenance Coordination: Coordinate with the Maintenance team to plan and execute maintenance activities efficiently, preventing disruptions.
• Crisis Incident Management: Handle crisis incidents, accidents, and near misses, including investigations and corrective actions.
• Discipline and Grievance: Enforce discipline and grievance procedures to maintain order and uphold standards.

About you:

• Qualifications to NVQ level 3 or equivalent (e.g., ONC, BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical & Electrical/Electronic Engineering)
• Proven track record in an engineering and fault-finding role within an FMCG environment, ideally food industry
• Experience in people management and delivering results through a team
• Good understanding of HACCP principles; IEE qualification up to 18th edition wiring regulations is a plus
• Excellent communication skills
• Assertiveness and decision-making ability
• A proactive attitude and strong work ethic
