Job description

We are currently looking for an Engineering Resource Plannerto join the teamat our Norfolk office in Norwich.

As the Engineering Resource Planner, you’ll be at the heart of our works programme—ensuring the optimal utilisation of internal and external resources.You’ll work closely with contractors and operational teams to support the delivery of key workstreams, including schemes funded through additional annual allocations.

This is a high-impact role where your planning expertise will directly contribute to the successful execution of infrastructure projects across the county.

Main responsibilities:

Within the role of Engineering Resource Planner, you will liaise with Agents and Supervisors to identify and effectively manage allocation of operational resources to ensure safe and successful delivery of the schemes works program, routine works and bridges.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager (LMO/ Routine) and liaising closely with NCC personnel, this role supports in all aspects of scheme identification, development and planning to ensure the budget is effectively delivered.

Other responsibilities for this role ofEngineering Resource Planner will include (not exhaustive):

  • Assisting in the management of all Norfolk programmes and resources with supporting liaisons to Norfolk NCC for all areas, whilst working collaboratively with all contract partners to support project delivery
  • Ensuring compliance with Tarmac Safety, Health and Environmental requirements and company procedures
  • Ensuring quality and performance standards for all involved are kept to the highest standards
  • Effectively manage the allocation of resources, including internal, supply chain and agency personnel to ensure successful delivery of programme
  • Assisting Contracts Managers in the planning & delivery workstreams, H&S Meetings
  • Monitoring contractor resource allocation through liaison with operational teams, with weekly reviews linking into the commercials team
  • Assisting with the preparation of the reports for the AGM and programme meetings
  • Involvement in the Key Supplier Meetings, ensuring they are being regularly delivered
  • Supporting with general site support, including minute taking and providing reports as and when required

The Ideal Candidate

It is preferred the successful candidate for theEngineering Resource Plannerrole will possess an understanding of industry practices within highway maintenance.

  • Good interpersonal relationship skills with confident, resilient approach

  • Ability to build rapport quickly with senior managers
  • Process driven
  • IT Literate Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to be proactive and to use initiative

The role is based at our Tarmac Norwich site, in Norfolk and is easily commutable from Spixworth, Wymondham, Taverham, Loddon, Aylsham, Hemsby, Great Yarmouth, Gorleston-on-Sea, Hopton, Lowestoft, Beccles, Dereham, Cromer, North Walsham and the surrounding areas.
