Job summary

Allen Associates is seeking an Engineering Purchasing Specialist based in Wallingford, England. This role focuses on sourcing mechanical components and supporting production through close supplier collaboration and technical drawing interpretation.

The ideal candidate will have proven procurement experience in engineering/manufacturing, strong negotiation skills, and familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems to manage orders and inventory.

Qualifications

• Proven procurement experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong negotiation, supplier management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement of mechanical components, composites, or marine parts to support production needs.
• Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers to improve quality, delivery, and cost.
• Interpret technical drawings to ensure accurate sourcing and quality standards.
• Negotiate prices, lead times and terms to optimize value.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to align procurement strategies.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply chain issues promptly.
• Use ERP systems (preferably SAP) to manage purchase orders, tracking, and inventory data.
