Job Description

Title: Engineering Purchaser

Location: Milton Keynes

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7am - 4pm (Flexible hours)

Salary: Circa £33,000 - £35,000 (depending on experience) + Overtime + Extensive benefits

Position Details: This international food manufacturing company is seeking an engineering purchaser to be responsible for the procurement and management of all spare parts and maintenance equipment used onsite. You will join their engineering team in Milton Keynes. The site is a fast-paced manufacturing environment with high technology products and highly regulated processes. You will need to be based onsite and work closely with the team.

Due to multiple projects, you will source engineering parts and tools from new clients and their existing book. This may involve negotiating with suppliers, onboarding new clients, and purchasing materials in line with expansion and the computerised stock tracking system. Your daily duties include identifying areas for cost and waste reduction, financial administration and reporting, purchasing engineering equipment and parts to meet specifications, on time and in full, at the lowest cost, and striving for continuous improvement. You will also assist with stock control efficiency, update the back office systems (NAV system), and regularly update the CMMS (Pirana - Shire's CMMS software).

This role requires strong IT/database skills and a general manufacturing/engineering understanding to source correct equipment. A background working closely with engineering or purchasing parts for a manufacturing site is fundamental. You will also be involved in risk assessment processes to reduce risk and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards per ISO 45001.

Requirements:

• At least 3 years experience as an engineering purchaser, buyer, or procurement specialist
• Previous experience within an engineering team, preferably on an FMCG food manufacturing site
• Approaches tasks with a can-do attitude and creative problem-solving skills
• Ability to learn new IT systems quickly with good attention to detail
• Knowledge of processing POs accurately and timely in line with the finance team
