Engineering Project Manager – HV Cable Routes (Pre-Construction)

Job summary

People In Power, a boutique engineering recruitment business, is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to lead the Pre-Construction engineering and civil delivery of HV cable route projects across the UK.

You will oversee feasibility studies, drive innovative crossing solutions, coordinate design teams, manage programmes and ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance while building strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Strong civil engineering experience within utilities.
• Experience delivering HV cable routes or major utility infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of crossing methodologies including HDD, trenchless, TBM or conventional trenching.
• Experience with DNOs, IDNOs or major utility clients.
• Good understanding of utility design, construction and engineering standards.
• Experience engaging with National Highways, Network Rail or other statutory bodies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and project coordination skills.
• Commercial awareness and ability to balance technical, programme and cost considerations.

Responsibilities

• Own the engineering and civil delivery of cable route projects at Pre-Construction, leading feasibility studies and technical development.
• Lead feasibility studies and optioneering for HV cable routes.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to produce buildable solutions.
• Act as the technical link between design, pre-construction and delivery teams.
• Manage project programmes, technical deliverables and engineering milestones.
• Oversee engineering quality, safety and compliance throughout delivery.
• Build strong relationships with clients, DNOs and statutory bodies.
• Identify and mitigate engineering and delivery risks before construction begins.
• Support commercial performance, budgets and project reporting.
