Qualifications

Position Summary:

The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for effectively planning, directing, and coordinating all activities relating to engineering projects of varying complexity from initial customer expectations through final delivery and commissioning.This role is accountable forleading cross-functional teams in the design, development, and deployment of advanced automation systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads end-to-end project management of automation and robotics engineering initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Defines project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements in collaboration with customers and stakeholders.
  • Manages cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software, as well as external vendors or partner integrators.
  • Coordinates with operations and quality teams to ensure the system is built to internal and/or customer standards.
  • Monitors project progress using tools like Gantt charts, ERP systems, Smartsheets, and Power BI to proactively manage risks and resolve issues.
  • Maintains project documentation, including specifications, design reviews, testing protocols, and change orders.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact between engineering, management, clients, and partners.
  • Remains up to date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory standards in robotics and automation. Makes recommendations for new technologies which align with our core business strategies.
  • Identifies bottlenecks in production flow and ensures needs are communicated so that necessary labor, material or support is applied.
  • Expedites critical projects through assembly, test, and inspection processes.

Skills and abilities:

  • Strong understanding of robotics systems (e.g., robotic arms, end of arm tooling, AGVs/AMRs, PLCs, machine vision, sensors).
  • Proven ability to manage complex technical projects through the full lifecycle (concept to commissioning).
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to manage risk
  • Proficiency in project management tools and CAD/engineering design tools.
  • SolidWorks and Smartsheets experience is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience in engineered assembly or manufacturing
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering project management with at least 3 years in robotics or industrial automation.
    1. PMP certification a plus
    2. Experience in custom engineered manufacturing or assembly is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Must be able to access various departments of a given location.
  • Travel 15%-20%.
