Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and self-sufficient Project professional to join our client's business. We are seeking an individual who can build effective working relationships and influence a wide variety of stakeholders, including senior management and cross-functional teams.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in developing and delivering industrial projects (>£500k) on schedule and within budget, using effective project management methodologies and continuous improvement techniques.

What do you get to do?

  • Own the project(s) and ensure that the associated time, cost, and quality objectives are met, primarily through project construction and execution phases.
  • Lead the design, contracting, construction, and testing of all associated project work to deliver the requirements as specified in the full capital investment submission.
  • Analyze all possible options for the project to ensure that alternatives are well understood.
  • Conduct competitive tendering and appoint appropriate contractors throughout the project lifecycle to ensure the right resources and skills are in place, and that contractors deliver on their obligations.
  • Develop and manage a robust project schedule based on the stage-gate process to facilitate effective financial and commercial management, maximizing business value.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate project governance procedures and processes to maintain appropriate management controls and ensure project delivery according to plan.
  • Apply an effective risk management process to identify and manage significant foreseeable risks.
  • Implement an appropriate quality management system to meet stakeholder requirements.
  • Provide health and safety (H&S) leadership for the project team(s), and oversee all H&S aspects of the projects.

What is expected from you?

  • A passion for excellence and a solution-focused mindset.
  • Degree qualified in mechanical or electrical engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • Proven track record in successfully delivering engineering capital projects in FMCG businesses.
  • Ability to deliver results and influence others through strong communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in managing engineering contracts (>£1m value).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or other engineering design software.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015; Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012; Electricity at Work Regulations 1989; IET 18th Edition; PUWER 1998; Machinery Safety Regulations 2008).
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean, 5S, DMAIC, FMEA, SMED, and Value Stream Mapping is advantageous.
