Role overview

This role requires a self-motivated individual to manage engineering projects end-to-end across Thames Water’s operational sites and estate, overseeing all aspects of CAPEX projects from inception to handover.

Key responsibilities
  1. Manage and deliver Mechanical, Electrical, and ICA projects, typically valued between £100,000 and £1 million.
  2. Handle multiple live projects simultaneously, with additional projects in planning stages.
  3. Develop innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency and deliver value.
  4. Collaborate with teams and contractors to define and cost solutions with minimal risk.
  5. Ensure health and safety compliance, including conducting monthly audits.
  6. Oversee construction in accordance with policies, procedures, and industry standards, including CDM regulations.
  7. Coordinate project delivery to ensure timely completion.
  8. Maintain compliance with Asset Standards and professional codes.
  9. Forecast and report on project financials, including Value of Work Done (VOWD).
  10. Prepare and review pre-construction documentation, risk assessments, and phase plans.
  11. Manage commissioning, training, and project handover processes.
  12. Ensure availability of all completion documentation, including certificates and manuals.
Requirements
  • Background in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil preferred).
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., BTEC/HND) or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Water Processing or Wastewater treatment beneficial.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety standards, including CDM (training provided).
  • Experience in Construction or Engineering Project Management.
