Job Description

Stopford has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Project Manager to join the team. This is a full-time, permanent position based at our office in Knutsford, with the possibility of hybrid working. Occasional travel to other offices and client sites may be required. We offer a competitive salary.

Reporting to the Projects Group Director, the successful candidate will oversee the evaluation, planning, and execution of Capital Projects related to Waste Recovery, Chemical, Nuclear, or Energy sectors. The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring Financial, Schedule, Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards are maintained throughout the Project Lifecycle.

Applicants must demonstrate project management skills within a multi-discipline EPC(M) environment in the waste, chemical, nuclear, or energy sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage project development from initiation to successful operation closure.
  2. Be accountable for project outcomes to sponsors and senior management.
  3. Develop project execution and quality plans with stakeholders, including scope, deliverables, resources, budget, schedule, and risks.
  4. Create detailed project schedules and risk management plans.
  5. Communicate expectations clearly to team members and stakeholders.
  6. Act as mediator between stakeholders and project teams.
  7. Resolve issues and address problems throughout the project lifecycle.
Role Requirements
  • Degree level education; Chartered Engineer/Manager preferred.
  • Significant experience in chemical, nuclear, oil & gas, petrochemicals, energy, or renewable sectors.
  • Experience in design, engineering, and construction phases (FEED and EPC(M)).
  • Strategic thinking and long-term planning skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines including commercial, financial, R&D, engineering, and construction.
  • Experience managing diverse teams and stakeholder relationships.
  • Knowledge of CDM roles and different contract forms (IChemE, NEC, FIDIC).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Full driving license required.
Security Clearance

The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain SC security clearance.
