JobsTrackR is seeking an Engineering Project Lead in Surrey with hybrid working. You will own high-value, client-facing projects and lead multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, data, software and instrumentation domains to deliver innovative technical solutions.

Engineering Project Lead Surrey Hybrid

Are you an experienced Engineering Project Lead who enjoys working at the forefront of advanced technology?

We’re working with a specialist Engineering Consultancy who deliver complex, technically demanding projects for clients across a range of industries. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Engineering Project Lead to take ownership of high-value projects while leading a multidisciplinary technical team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, project ownership and people leadership, and wants to play a key role in turning advanced technology into practical solutions that deliver measurable results.

The Role

As Engineering Project Lead, you’ll take ownership of projects from initial planning through to successful delivery, ensuring they are delivered to the required scope, budget, quality and timescale.

You’ll work closely with clients, internal teams and external partners, bringing together expertise across Mechanicalengineering, design, data science, software, instrumentation and hardware to deliver innovative technical solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking full ownership of client and internal projects, including project plans, budgets, margins, risks, dependencies and change control.
• Leading multidisciplinary project teams and external partners, setting clear priorities and maintaining momentum through to delivery.
• Line managing a cross-functional technical team covering Mechanical Engineering,data science, software and instrumentation/hardware, including objectives, one-to-ones, coaching, development, performance and recruitment support.
• Translating advanced digital, data, software and engineering capabilities into practical solutions and measurable client outcomes.
• Establishing appropriate project governance and leading client and internal reviews, reporting, issue resolution and escalation.
• Planning and balancing resources to ensure projects are appropriately supported throughout delivery.
• Developing robust project scopes, proposals, estimates and delivery plans to ensure projects are set up for success.
• Identifying opportunities for repeatable products and services, as well as developing existing client relationships into follow-on projects.
• Driving continuous improvement across the team and ensuring a sustainable, inclusive, healthy and safe working environment.
• Making timely decisions and maintaining ownership through changing requirements, ambiguity and technical complexity.

About You

We’re looking for someone with a strong technical background who can combine engineering project leadership, commercial awareness and people management.

You'll ideally have:

• A technical degree, preferably within engineering, data science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience delivering complex, client-facing technical projects involving digital, data, software, engineering or industrial technology.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams, with line management and people development experience highly desirable.
• Strong technical judgement and the ability to bring together different specialist disciplines to create a coherent solution.
• Solid project, commercial and financial management skills, including forecasting, estimating and commercial negotiation.
• Clear and purposeful communication skills, with the confidence to engage with clients, technical specialists and senior stakeholders.
• A collaborative and inclusive leadership style, with the ability to bring different perspectives together and build effective partnerships.
