Job summary

Assystem, a leading nuclear engineering consultancy, seeks an experienced Business Manager to lead a high-performing engineering portfolio. The role delivers project-based P&L results, integrates cross-functional performance, and ensures disciplined governance across delivery streams.

You will deputise for the Senior Business Manager, lead forecasting and financial control, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining strong client relationships and strategic framework agreements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing a P&L within an engineering consultancy or project delivery environment.
• Strong ability to drive performance across a portfolio of engineering work packages.
• Experience working with Programme Managers or delivery leads in complex environments.
• Strong financial acumen including forecasting, cost control, budgeting and reporting.
• Solid understanding of NEC4 contracts and related commercial principles.
• Ability to set and monitor portfolio-level KPIs and drive improvements.
• Experience supporting bid, proposal and commercial governance activities.
• Strong stakeholder management and client engagement skills.
• Experience leading and influencing multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead project-based P&L and target revenue, margin and cash outcomes.
• Integrate performance across Programme Management, Engineering, Commercial and Sales.
• Maintain governance, controls and delivery standards across packages.
• Lead monthly forecasting, reporting and financial reviews.
• Ensure NEC4 contract oversight and change management.
• Build and nurture client relationships and pipeline opportunities.
• Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
• Provide leadership across the business and develop teams.
