Alexander Steele Recruitment is seeking an Engineering Planner for a food manufacturing site in Suffolk. The role focuses on maintenance planning, CMMS management and coordinating schedules to ensure safe, timely execution of maintenance activities.

The successful candidate will plan PPM and corrective work, ensure availability of spare parts and resources, and collaborate with Engineering, Production Planning and Operations to minimise downtime.

Qualifications

• Experience in Engineering Planning, Maintenance Planning or Engineering Coordination.
• Background in Food Manufacturing or FMCG.
• Strong knowledge of CMMS; Shire experience preferred.
• Familiar with PPM, reactive maintenance and scheduling.

Responsabilités

• Own and manage CMMS and maintenance scheduling.
• Coordinate daily/weekly maintenance across day/night shifts.
• Plan and schedule PPM, corrective maintenance, and major works.
• Ensure spare parts, tools, permits and resources are ready.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production Planning and Operations to minimise disruption.
• Manage work orders, backlogs, asset records and documentation.
• Monitor maintenance performance and improve reliability.
• Support stock optimisation and reliability initiatives.

ENGINEERING PLANNER | FOOD MANUFACTURING

Suffolk | Salary up to £50,000 working perm days only Mon - Fri

I'm working with an established food manufacturer looking to recruit an experienced Engineering Coordinator / Planner to support its busy 24/7 manufacturing operation.

This is a key role within the Engineering function, taking ownership of maintenance planning, scheduling and coordination to ensure engineering teams have everything they need to complete maintenance activities safely, efficiently and on time.

The Role:

• Own and manage the CMMS system, ideally with experience using Shire.
• Develop and coordinate daily and weekly maintenance schedules across day and night shifts.
• Plan and schedule PPM, corrective maintenance, shutdowns and major engineering works.
• Ensure engineers have the necessary spare parts, tools, permits and resources before work begins.
• Work closely with Engineering, Production Planning and Operations to agree maintenance windows and minimise production disruption.
• Manage work orders, maintenance backlogs, asset records and engineering documentation.
• Monitor maintenance performance and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and plant availability.
• Support spare parts management, stock optimisation and reliability improvement initiatives.

What I'm Looking For:

• Previous experience in an Engineering Planning, Maintenance Planning or Engineering Coordination role.
• Background within Food Manufacturing, FMCG or a manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of CMMS systems — Shire experience would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of PPM, reactive maintenance and engineering scheduling.
• Knowledge of engineering plant, equipment and spare parts management.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Confident communicator, able to coordinate and influence across Engineering, Production and Operations.
• An engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-skilled) would be beneficial.
