Position: Building Operations Technician

Amazon is currently hiring Building Technicians to support our data centers. The Building Operations Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. This role serves as a technical resource to support Amazon's data centers, which require equipment uptime better than 99.999%. The technician is also tasked with driving innovation and reducing operational costs. Responsibilities include responding to electrical and mechanical issues affecting availability, with equipment including standby diesel generators, switchboards, UPS systems, PDU’s, HVAC units, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems.

This position requires obtaining and maintaining an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. 3+ years of data center or building operations experience in a mission-critical environment.
  2. Deep understanding of electrical and mechanical systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS, PDU, pumps, HVAC, and CRAC units.
  3. Familiarity with BMS and EPMS control systems, data collection/trending, and proficiency with maintenance management software (CMMS).
  4. Ability to work on call outside regular hours, lift loads up to 22 kg (49 lbs), and perform tasks at heights, including ladders.
  5. Fluent in English for technical communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  2. Electrical or Mechanical trade certification.
  3. 4+ years of data center experience.
