The Role
As a Engineering Operations Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be a key leader within the Production, Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul function, responsible for the output of Fleet Operations in the execution of vessel maintenance periods. In doing so, you will lead a team of engineering front line managers to achieve their technical and operational outputs via their own teams composed of professionals and technical specialists.

Day to day, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing daily operations of business support, technicians, and/or production teams.
  • Leading through supervisors or team leaders, or directly managing professionals.
  • Addressing operational challenges and allocating resources effectively.
  • Setting production schedules and ensuring delivery against agreed plans and priorities.
  • Resolving technical issues and recommending improvements to production processes.
  • Influencing and guiding internal stakeholders to meet quality, volume, and timeliness objectives.

This role is full-time (36 hours per week) Monday to Thursday 7:15am- 4:45pm is based in Faslane, Helensburgh.

Essential Experience of the Engineering Operations Manager:

  • Broad knowledge of engineering principles, including nuclear, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Experience with complex Fleet Engineering work packages and support functions (e.g., scaffolding, slinging).
  • Familiarity with submarine systems ( A, and V Class), and maintenance and repair operations- desirable
  • Strong understanding of safety standards, COSHH, risk assessments, and quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in planning, budgeting, and business applications.- desirable
  • Skilled in negotiation and influencing across teams.
  • Excellent communication skills

Qualifications for the Engineering Operations Manager:

  • HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Nuclear Introductory Course and Nuclear Submarine Quality Assurance Course (NSQAC) will be beneficial
  • ILM Level 5 or equivalent leadership qualification.
  • Project Management Qualifications will be beneficial
