Amazon is seeking a collaborative electrical maintenance professional for our AWS Data Centre team. This engineering operations technician will serve as the on-site maintenance technician and operator for an AWS data centre.
The Data Centre Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is responsible for operating and maintaining electrical, mechanical, emergency generator, and fire/life safety equipment. The EOT supports mission-critical server uptime of over 99.999%, drives innovation, and reduces operational costs.
EOTs are the frontline responders for troubleshooting and operating electrical and mechanical equipment such as diesel generators, switchboards, UPSs, PDU, AHU, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems. This role does not require shift work.
Responsibilities include:
- Operating and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment
- Troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within SLAs
- Performing maintenance tasks like filter changes, HVAC PMs, rack power installs, PDU, and ATS replacements
- Supporting Data Centre Operations technicians
- Conducting root cause analysis of equipment failures
- Ensuring safety procedures are followed
- Taking daily operational readings (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
- Managing workflows and spare parts via internal CMMS
- Supervising contractors
- Responding to emergency calls as per on-call rotation
- Adhering to physical security policies
