Job summary

DeepL is building a Payments, Abuse & Conversion team under Monetisation, and seeks a senior engineering leader to drive secure, scalable systems.

You will mentor engineers, shape the quarterly roadmap with Product, and ensure the end-to-end checkout experience remains robust against fraud.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience as a Senior or Staff-level backend engineer.
• Payments domain experience with gateway integrations, checkout flows, or billing infrastructure.
• Familiarity with fraud prevention, abuse detection, rate limiting, or bot protection.

Responsibilities

• Lead a distributed engineering team, focusing on wellbeing, growth, and performance.
• Own delivery cadence and quarterly roadmap in collaboration with Product.
• Provide technical guidance on PAC's payments and fraud infrastructure.
• Balance conversion optimization with fraud prevention to protect revenue.
• Represent PAC in planning and cross-functional discussions with product, finance, and engineering.
