About the Team

You will lead a multi-skilled engineering team managing our new Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning platform at Sainsbury’s.

What you'll do

• Own and evolve a newly built ML Ops platform on Microsoft Azure, supporting the full ML lifecycle—from data sourcing & feature engineering to training, deployment, and real-time serving.
• Architect scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions, making build vs. buy decisions to maximize impact.
• Drive innovation with new AI/ML capabilities such as graph neural networks and LLM Ops.
• Oversee migration & modernization of existing ML models into a unified stack.
• Support cross-functional teams of data scientists and ML engineers, enabling AI-driven automation across the business.
• Manage end-to-end delivery and operations of the platform, ensuring stability and development.
• Collaborate with Product teams to prioritize AI/ML capabilities, ensuring high-quality delivery.
• Build a diverse, high-performing engineering team, hiring and leveraging third-party resources as needed.
• Define the technical vision for AI & ML Engineering, embedding best practices across the organization.
• Champion agile/lean delivery, oversee budgets, support services, and SLAs.
