Qualifications

• Strong commercial software engineering experience with Java, Spring Boot and React.
• Previous experience as an Engineering Manager, Software Engineering Manager, Technical Lead or similar.
• Proven experience building, growing or shaping engineering teams, and managing and developing software engineers.
• Strong people management skills, including coaching, mentoring, performance management and career development.
• Strong understanding of automated testing, CI/CD, code quality and software design principles.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, and experience in Agile environments.
• Desirable: experience contributing to technical architecture and engineering decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop a team of software engineers, including recruitment, onboarding and team structure.
• Coach and mentor engineers, give regular feedback and support their career development.
• Own team performance, engagement and ways of working.
• Work with engineering, product and delivery stakeholders to plan and prioritise technical delivery.
• Provide technical leadership across Java, Spring Boot and React applications, staying around 30% hands-on through development, code reviews and solution design.
• Support architectural decisions, promote engineering best practice and drive continuous improvement.
