Nicoll Curtin is partnering with a global public safety technology provider to recruit an Engineering Manager in Manchester. This role leads the technical direction, drives the roadmap, and oversees end-to-end delivery across UK and US teams.

You will coach engineers, manage performance reviews, and collaborate with Product and Design leaders to ensure timely delivery. A security clearance (SC/NPPV) is required for projects. Hybrid work with on-site days is offered.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in professional software engineering.
• Experience building and running frontend and backend services and distributed systems.
• Proven technical leadership on complex builds including architecture, design reviews, and implementation strategy.
• Ability switching between hands-on technical guidance, coaching, project leadership, and people management.
• Strong delivery track record built on cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and cloud-native practices.

Responsabilités

• Act as focal technical person and face of the company for technical direction and strategy.
• Shape the long-term roadmap for your team and the wider product portfolio, working with senior stakeholders.
• Own delivery end-to-end: sprint planning, release cycles, backlog prioritisation, and unblocking the team.
• Bridge UK and US engineering teams to align technology and business objectives.
• Grow engineers through coaching, pairing, feedback, and delegation of ownership.
• Run regular 1:1s, set clear expectations, and champion career progression within an inclusive culture.
• Collaborate closely with teams to deliver projects efficiently and on time.
