Job summary

Pole Star Group is a leading Enterprise Asset Management solutions provider focused on safety, efficiency and asset performance across railways, highways and healthcare. We seek an Engineering Manager to lead a department integrating traditional engineering with digital solutions, including drone surveys, LiDAR and BIM.

The role combines technical leadership, training and mentoring of engineers, with hands-on asset inspections and strategic project oversight to uphold high safety standards.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Certifications include STE02, STE04, STE06 and Competence Assessor Qualification.
• Proven expertise in structural inspections, risk assessment and remedial recommendations.
• Experience leading technical teams and driving engineering operations.
• Ability to develop and deliver training programmes to support competency frameworks.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the engineering department, integrating digital asset management with traditional engineering practices.
• Act as CRE for infrastructure projects.
• Oversee competency management ensuring NR/L2/CIV/1000 compliance.
• Develop and implement technical training programmes to upskill engineers and examiners.
• Conduct condition assessments across rail, highways, and infrastructure with actionable recommendations.
• Provide technical leadership in asset inspections and Interim Assessment Reports.
• Support tendering, pricing, and commercial decision-making.
• Manage engineering teams with KPIs, PDPs, and schedules.
• Foster mentorship and continuous learning for junior engineers and examiners.
• Maintain hands-on involvement in on-site inspections and expand river/earthworks/drainage competencies.
