Job summary

NP Aerospace in Coventry seeks an Engineering Manager to lead a team of project engineers, drive design and development from concept to launch, and ensure delivery within scope and budget. You will champion innovation, uphold engineering standards and coordinate with cross-functional groups across defence programs.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, substantial design leadership experience, and comfort with AI-enabled tools to enhance performance and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Significant experience on design and development projects from inception to launch.
• Understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T; familiarity with automotive/defence requirements.
• Experience with configuration control and change management.
• Ability to communicate technically with management and customers.
• Experience in line management or leading teams; willingness to apply AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate strong mechanical engineering principles, technologies and industry trends.
• Be responsible for engineering standards and procedures; sign off products and projects.
• Provide guidance to design and engineering teams on complex technical challenges.
• Champion innovation in technical area.
• Direct line management of 6–10 project engineers; conduct performance reviews and development plans.
• Oversee planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects within scope, budget and timeline.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Identify risks and implement effective project management methodologies.
• Allocate resources and ensure teams have tools, equipment and training.
• Contribute to engineering budgets and cost-control strategies.
