Engineering Manager (Database Platforms) - Central Manchester - Salary £90,000 + Bonus

The Company:

Lorien Global is partnering with an organization based in Central Manchester that is transforming how it uses Data. As this team grows significantly, we are seeking a leader to guide the team through this exciting period.

The Role:

You will manage the Operational Database team of DBAs, a critical component for the success of the business. Your responsibilities include implementing best practices in database administration and operations. Working closely with architects, this role offers a genuine opportunity to implement innovative solutions within a key business transformation project.

The Skill Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience with Linux-based databases (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.)
  • Strong team management skills, focusing on project delivery and team development
  • Excellent understanding of DBA concepts: Clustering, Performance Tuning, Security, Scaling, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of critical transactional database operations, preferably within a live revenue-generating platform
  • Additional technical knowledge of AWS cloud platforms and NoSQL databases is advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with internal and external teams
