Engineering Manager (Database Platforms) - Central Manchester - Salary £90,000 + Bonus

The Company:

Lorien Global is partnering with an organization based in Central Manchester, embarking on a data transformation initiative. As this team grows, we seek a leader to guide the team through this exciting period.

The Role:

You will manage the Operational Database team of DBAs, focusing on implementing best practices in database administration and operations. Collaborating closely with architects, you'll have the opportunity to introduce innovative solutions within a key business transformation project.

Skill Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with Linux-based databases (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.)
• Strong team management skills, emphasizing project delivery and team development
• Deep understanding of DBA concepts: Clustering, Performance Tuning, Security, Scaling, etc.
• Experience with critical transactional database operations, ideally in live revenue-generating platforms
• Knowledge of AWS cloud platforms and NoSQL databases is advantageous
• Excellent communication skills for internal and external stakeholders

The Benefits:

• Salary: £90,000
• Company bonus scheme (~10%)
• Hybrid work model: 2 days in the office per week
• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing over time
