Job summary

Apple's cloud AI inference platform is growing quickly, and we are looking for engineering managers to own components of that stack and lead the teams that build them. This role is based in London.

You will hire, grow, and lead engineers; set delivery against a roadmap; run design reviews; and partner with ML research, hardware, security, SRE, and product teams across London, Cupertino, and Seattle.

Qualifications

• Experience managing software engineers, including hiring, coaching, feedback, and performance management.
• Strong software engineering background in systems, backend, distributed systems, or platform work.
• Ownership of delivery on an infrastructure or platform team.
• Agile mindset and ability to operate in ambiguity.
• Excellent written communication across geographies and time zones.
• Security and privacy mindset for systems handling user content.

Responsibilities

• Build, coach, and retain a high-performing, inclusive team.
• Own delivery and technical direction for one or more inference stack areas.
• Set a credible technical roadmap balancing near-term delivery with long-term investment.
• Partner with engineering, research, hardware, security, SRE, and product to deliver cross-team outcomes.
• Maintain rigorous engineering standards: measurement, reproducible results, readiness, incident reviews, and documentation.
• Represent the team to senior leadership and secure needed resources.
• Develop technical leads and delegate architectural ownership.
• Ensure privacy-by-design and secure-by-design across the system.
