Job summary

Immersum partners with a global payments business to hire an Engineering Manager who will lead the Banking & FX tribe, overseeing 6–8 engineers across payments, FX, ledgers and banking integrations.

This leadership role emphasizes people-first management with technical depth to challenge decisions, own delivery, and mentor the team, while aligning with product and business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing and leading software engineers.
• Strong C#, Azure and SQL knowledge.
• Experience owning business-critical production services.
• Understanding of asynchronous/event-driven systems.
• Strong product mindset and commercial awareness.
• Comfortable making technical decisions and challenging when needed.
• Experience working with AI in software development.
• Background in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 6–8 engineers.
• Own delivery, OKRs, forecasting and prioritisation.
• Work closely with Product, Design and business stakeholders.
• Turn client problems into software that gets shipped and supported.
• Set technical direction alongside senior engineers.
• Maintain high standards around quality, testing, security and reliability.
• Own production services, incidents, on-call and observability.
• Drive mentoring, progression, performance and hiring.
• Champion pragmatic agile ways of working.
• Shape how the team uses AI, including Claude Code.
