Engineering Manager – Baggage

From £59,795 + £4,750 Flex Allowance + Up to 20% Bonus + Benefits

The Opportunity:

Are you our next Engineering Manager – Baggage? We are looking for someone who can help us redefine what's possible for our Engineering team.

What's the role?

The core purpose of this role is to deliver a safe, efficient, and resilient Baggage System—one that handles a major flow within the Airport (the others being aircraft and passenger). You will take full accountability for the Baggage Systems to ensure high levels of safety, reliability, and availability of this critical infrastructure.

This role requires strong leadership of the maintenance team, along with effective management of third parties and stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

1. Lead and develop the Baggage Engineering team of skilled Technicians to deliver the maintenance plan.
2. Ensure optimal performance of the Baggage asset base, including performance improvements to enhance system availability, meeting OBP / CSS metrics.
3. Drive EH&S culture across all teams to reduce incidents and promote a safe working environment.
4. Communicate effectively and produce reports for stakeholders such as GAL teams, airlines, and handling agents to enable smooth operations.
5. Manage costs and contracts to ensure operational budgets are met.

1. Degree level education in an engineering discipline; HND level with significant experience also accepted.
2. Proven proactive leadership to promote health and safety culture, ensuring processes protect employees and contractors.
3. Experience managing and developing a baggage team aligned with strategic priorities.
4. Ability to ensure system performance exceeds OBP and CSS measures.
5. Experience leading failure investigations related to baggage systems and operational impacts.
