The Role

As the Engineering Manager - Autonomous Driving Forensics Engineer, you will lead a cross-functional team focused on diagnosing and resolving systemic issues in autonomous vehicle (AV) performance. Your expertise in robotics and AI will guide improvements in our AV stack, enabling development teams to achieve top performance.

You will collaborate with software engineers, roboticists, platform developers, and operational teams to investigate AV behavior in real-world and simulated settings. Your leadership will foster innovative solutions and ensure efficient issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead teams to identify, analyze, and resolve complex AV system performance issues.
  2. Apply robotics and AI expertise to investigate systemic problems across the AV stack.
  3. Design and oversee experiments to test hypotheses and enhance system performance.
  4. Use video, simulation, and telemetry data to identify trends and root causes.
  5. Communicate findings and strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  6. Promote statistical rigor and best practices in performance analysis and experimentation.
  7. Collaborate with developers to implement solutions and monitor improvements.
About You
  • 5+ years experience with complex robotics or AI systems, including leadership roles.
  • Proven ability to design experiments and analyze results in robotic systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Experience with data analysis tools like Python (pandas, sklearn, scipy).
  • Proficiency in remote Linux environments and debugging.
  • Ability to influence organizational direction through insights.
Desirable Skills
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch).
  • Passion for translating research into production solutions.
  • Advocate for statistical rigor and best practices.
  • Experience in fast-paced tech or startup environments.
  • Expertise in Python and data workflows.
