Job summary

SoundCloud is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Ads ML team within Growth, Revenue and Commerce. You will guide ML-driven ad delivery, own the production ML stack, and drive a rigorous experimentation culture across markets.

You’ll manage four backend and ML engineers, contribute to code, and report to the Director of Engineering. Bring 5+ years backend experience and strong leadership to a fast-growing platform.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of engineering management experience.
• 5+ years as a backend software developer.
• Hands-on experience building and running ML systems in production.
• Strong experiment design skills and rigour.

Responsibilities

• Own the ML roadmap for ad delivery across markets; decide what to build next.
• Own the production ML stack behind ad decisions: online model serving, real-time bandit decisioning, feature pipelines, eval and monitoring.
• Build a rigorous experimentation practice for ML: offline/online evaluation, A/B testing, guardrail metrics.
• Own backend ad delivery services turning model decisions into ads across platforms.
• Collaborate with client engineers, data analysts and product on the roadmap; balance revenue, retention and ad inventory.
• Grow ML depth through hiring, mentorship and career development; manage performance.
