Job summary

Williams Lea is seeking an Engineering Manager to guide a high-performing engineering team in delivering scalable software aligned with the product roadmap.

You will lead hiring, mentor engineers, and shape technical strategy while collaborating with Product, Design, and Security to ensure quality and timely delivery. Remote work is supported with UK operations.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including delivery of complex systems.
  • 2+ years of direct people management experience.
  • Proven experience leading Agile/Scrum teams and driving continuous improvement.
  • Experience with project budgeting, resource planning, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Ability to advise on technical strategy and ensure alignment with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5-8 engineers focusing on career growth and performance.
  • Drive recruitment, onboarding, and development of a diverse, high-performing team.
  • Cultivate an inclusive, positive team culture and address dynamics.
  • Own delivery outcomes, velocity, reliability, and scalability of systems.
  • Set technical standards, guide architecture, and manage technical debt.
  • Lead incident response and post-mortems to drive improvements.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Security to plan roadmaps and align objectives.
  • Manage team capacity, risks, and stakeholder communication.
  • Contribute to departmental technical strategy and drive innovation.
