MOO set out to shake up the world of print back in 2006. Since then, we’ve grown into a team of over 400 employees creating print and digital products for clients of all sizes, including Google and AirBnB. Our global headquarters is in London, UK, with additional premises in Dagenham, and offices in Boston, MA, East Providence, RI, and Denver, CO. As we expand our product range, we are seeking an experienced and collaborative Engineering Manager (operations & manufacturing) to lead our operational engineering efforts.

This role bridges the digital and physical worlds—spanning software systems and operational processes—to drive the development, optimization, and launch of new physical products within our operations team. You will oversee the evolution of our platform, manage the transition from classic systems to modern architecture, and lead the engineering work behind our manufacturing and shipping operations, ensuring systems are scalable and reliable.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines people development, technical delivery, and operational excellence. We are looking for a people-focused leader with a background in software engineering, strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to align technical strategy with business goals.

Responsibilities

  1. People & Team Leadership: Lead and support a high-performing engineering team, including coaching, mentoring, and providing technical direction. Foster a culture of continuous learning and inclusivity. Conduct performance reviews and facilitate effective communication across departments.
  2. Delivery & Project Management: Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects, proactively remove blockers, and maintain transparent stakeholder communication. Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies, collaborating with Product Trios to deliver business value.
  3. Technical & Operational Excellence: Provide hands-on technical leadership, ensure engineering best practices, drive system reliability, scalability, and performance. Manage technical debt and ensure engineering initiatives align with business strategies.

About You

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams in a delivery-focused environment.
  • Experience working with Product and UX teams in an Agile environment.
  • Interest in operational domains such as manufacturing, shipping, or supply chain.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Java (v17 or v21) and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
  • Exposure to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) like Tulip.
  • Background in eCommerce, manufacturing, or logistics technology.
  • Understanding of platform transitions and legacy system migrations.
