The role

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll be involved in a developing part of the business undergoing transformation to support the Devonport Facilities for the Future Maritime Support Programme for the next 18 months before moving to the LTPA (Long Term Partnering Agreement).

You will be responsible for managing the technical aspects of projects from initiation to handover, acting as the Technical Authority and organizing resources as needed.

• Supporting capability growth and securing new work
• Managing the technical delivery throughout project lifecycle
• Supporting design management for complex, safety-critical facilities within quality, time, and budget constraints
• Organizing and leading internal and external resources
• Ensuring design outputs are fit for purpose and within budget and schedule
• Applying structured design processes suitable for conventional and nuclear facilities

Please note: The successful candidate will need to pass a medical questionnaire/examination as a condition of employment.

This role is full-time (35 hours/week) with hybrid working (1-2 days onsite, 3-4 days remote). Flexible working options may be available; inquire at interview.

Essential Experience

• Strong technical background with excellent stakeholder management skills
• Experience in designing solutions for safety-critical applications within a nuclear environment (e.g., Royal Navy or radiological waste management)
• Experience with the design lifecycle and problem-solving approaches

Qualifications

• Degree in a STEM subject or equivalent experience
• Chartered/Incorporated Engineer registration or working towards it, with membership of a relevant professional body

Security Clearance

The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain SC security clearance. Eligibility may be affected by nationality, citizenship, or residency status.
