Engineering Manager – Perth

Location: Perthshire, Scotland

Package: Competitive Salary + 9-Day Fortnight + Health Insurance

Are you an experienced Engineering Manager based in the Perthshire area, ready to take on a pivotal new role with an ambitious engineering firm experiencing strong growth?

We’re delighted to be partnering with a forward-thinking, local engineering business specialising in bespoke bulk handling and storage solutions for clients in the agriculture and whisky distillery sectors. This newly created Engineering Manager position is a strategic appointment, designed to support the company’s continued growth over the next 2–5 years.

You’ll be joining a close-knit, high-performing team, taking a hands-on leadership role that bridges design, fabrication, and engineering operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, you will:

  • Lead and manage one full-time 3D CAD Technician, offering day-to-day support, mentoring, and development.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of an additional CAD Technician to expand the design team.
  • Line manage two full-time Fabricator/Welders, providing leadership, quality oversight, and workflow support.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance:
    • Workload planning and distribution
    • Drawing control, revision tracking, and issue management
    • Quality assurance and standardisation between design and fabrication
  • Collaborate closely with the Engineering Director to ensure engineering team output aligns with wider business objectives.
  • Support strategic planning for team expansion aligned to long-term company growth.
  • Be flexible and hands-on, supporting CAD design work using SolidWorks and AutoCAD when required.
  • Attend site visits across Scotland, providing technical support for client projects as needed.
What We’re Looking For:

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven leadership experience, ideally managing technical/design or fabrication teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks and a willingness to contribute to hands-on CAD work.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with engineering drawing protocols.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with experience implementing process improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, able to work closely with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A flexible, proactive mindset that thrives in a small, growing team environment.
  • Background in engineering management, senior design, or a technical leadership role.
Why Join?

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a strategically important role within a business that’s scaling rapidly. You’ll have the chance to shape team structures, improve engineering processes, and contribute directly to the company’s success.

Benefits include
  • Competitive salary.
  • 9-day fortnight (every second Friday off).
  • Private health insurance.
  • Involvement in varied, high-impact projects across Scotland.
  • Opportunity to help build a team and define future engineering processes.
