Location: South Devon | Salary: Up to £50,000 | Working Days: Monday to Friday (+ occasional Saturdays)

Are you ready to take the next step in your engineering career? This is a rare opportunity to move into your first formal management role, leading a team, shaping processes, and playing a key part in the growth of a forward-thinking, sustainable food business.

On behalf of our client, an expanding food processing company in South Devon, TQR is seeking a motivated and hands-on Engineering Team Leader (or aspiring Engineering Manager) to take ownership of engineering and maintenance operations. With recent investment and exciting capital projects on the horizon, this is the perfect time to join and grow with the business.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Lead & Inspire: Guide a small engineering team, set clear goals, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Ensure the factory runs efficiently and safely, supporting expansion into new markets.
  • Get Hands-On: Be actively involved in day-to-day maintenance and problem-solving, while developing your leadership skills.
  • Champion Safety & Compliance: Maintain high standards across safety procedures, certifications, and quality systems.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with other departments to deliver improvement initiatives and support business growth.
  • Support Projects: Contribute to capital investment plans and provide insights for senior leadership reporting.
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience in a supervisory or senior maintenance engineering role, ideally within food or FMCG manufacturing.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a desire to take on more responsibility.
  • Recognised qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering (dual-skilled preferred).
