You'll own the end-to-end delivery pipeline including the code-driven deployment infrastructure, automated test safety nets, effective operational instrumentation, and incident response. You and your team will work in conjunction with your Product & Delivery peers to implement a “three box model” of accountability for the overall output.

Other duties of an Engineering Manager include...

  • Foster a culture of transparency and openness, ensuring the squad is a happy, cohesive unit. Take robust action when you observe behaviors that do not fit with these principles.
  • Support the implementation of Continuous Integration & Delivery, ensuring that delivery occurs in an Agile manner, releasing to production as soon as possible and experimenting where appropriate.
  • Use data to inform decision-making around delivery approach, holding your team and yourself accountable for delivery towards the team's goals.
  • Actively participate in the culture of the organization, championing initiatives and demonstrating a deep understanding of commercial goals and customer needs.
  • Ensure all solutions built are of high quality and well tested. Coordinate test efforts within the team when required.
  • Continuously improve QA processes, focusing on automation, establishing strong standards, and holding the team to them.
