Job summary

Murphy is recruiting an Engineering Manager to work with Murphy Applied Engineering in our London office. The role leads a portfolio of Water Projects and manages a multidisciplinary team delivering Permanent Works schemes across all project stages, from surveys to handover.

You will lead design & engineering delivery for water/wastewater projects, coordinating with civil, process, electrical, and H&S teams to ensure seamless integration and robust, buildable solutions.

Qualifications

• HND/Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Chartered with ICE and/or IStructE preferred.
• Experience delivering water sector permanent works projects.

Responsibilities

Murphy is recruiting for an Engineering Manager to work with Murphy Applied Engineering in our London office.

Our engineering teams represent a multi-disciplined range of engineering skills, adding value across all our sectors, and pushing the boundaries of digital construction, engineering innovation and design to deliver intelligent, sustainable and economical engineering solutions.

Under the banner of Murphy Applied Engineering, our in-house teams include civil, structural, mechanical, geotechnical and process engineers. They design both permanent and temporary works for projects in all our locations and are a trusted source of expert advice for both Murphy colleagues and external customers.

A day in the life of a Murphy Engineering Manager

This individual will take responsibility for delivering a portfolio of Water Projects, managing a team to deliver all associated Permanent Works schemes.

• Proven track record in the water sector of successfully delivering:
• Multiple civil and structural permanent works projects across framework(s) to cost and programme.
• Technically sound civil and structural permanent works designs with a strong emphasis on buildability.
• Design & Engineering Leadership: Lead the design and engineering delivery for water and wastewater treatment projects. Oversee all stages of design and delivery, including site surveys, option engineering, outline design, detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover on D&B projects.
• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate closely with civil, process, electrical, ICA, and H&S teams to ensure seamless integration into the overall project. Provide technical guidance and coordinate with both internal and external design and delivery teams.

• HND/Bachelor/ Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• A designer with the ability to manage projects from the design and cost perspectives.
• Experience of effective financial management and control of projects.
• Strong analysis and design skills with the ability to interpret design requirements and analyse complex structures.
• A person with an open-minded approach to solving civil and structural engineering challenges to find the best solution from all perspectives of a project.
• Preferably Chartered with ICE and/ or IStructE.
