Lead the Future of Submarine Combat Systems

Day-to-day, you’ll lead the delivery of capability insertion for complex and special projects.

  • Leading a team of Engineers to deliver Capability Insertion projects from concept to commissioning
  • Overseeing waterfront engineering support and installation activities
  • Collaborating with programme teams, technical authorities and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure seamless execution
  • Managing full project lifecycles, including design, manufacture and delivery
  • Driving innovation and continuous improvement across submarine combat systems

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home. This role is based in Bristol with regular travel to Faslane, Helensburgh and Devonport, Plymouth. You can work from home up to three days per week. Monthly overnight stays may be required, particularly during installation phases, which could involve extended periods on-site. Flexibility to travel and stay away from home is essential.

Essential Experience
  • Proven experience managing submarine combat systems upgrades or similar defence engineering projects
  • Full lifecycle project management experience, from bid to close-out
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience in regulated industries with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Proficiency in project planning tools such as MS Project or Primavera
Qualifications
  • Degree in a relevant STEM discipline (Engineering, Physics, Computer Science) or HND/Foundation Degree with substantial technical experience
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or actively working towards chartership with a recognised institution (e.g., IET, IMechE, INCOSE)

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
