About The Role

EverQuote is seeking an Engineering Manager to join our growing team! We’re looking for a technical leader with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong interpersonal skills. As an Engineering Manager, you’ll guide teams to deliver high-quality software, enhance engineering efficiency and culture, and contribute meaningfully to the evolution of our platform and practices.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading the design and delivery of key business applications and solutions.
• Coaching and mentoring junior and mid-level engineers within your team and across the organisation.
• Improving engineering culture by identifying and resolving inefficiencies in our processes.
• Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders including Product Managers and the Architecture team.
  
  

Essential Criteria

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential criteria:

• A third-level degree in an Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• A minimum of 5 years’ professional programming experience, including time spent at a software product company
• Prior experience as an engineering manager or tech lead with a track record of growing high-performing teams

• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
• Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to align technical execution with business priorities
• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g. Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, etc.).
• Experience in at least one of the following technical areas:
• Supporting cloud platforms at scale (AWS)
• Working with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Container orchestration environments (preferably Kubernetes)
• Observability platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
• Experience using continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI).
  
  

Desirable Criteria

It would be an advantage if you also possess any of the following:

• Experience with UI development, especially in React or other modern frontend frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of microservice-based architectures.
• Familiarity with secure development practices.
• Experience mentoring or managing engineers.
• Exposure to engineering systems or applications at scale.
