The Plant Manager / Engineering Manager is working with a UK market leader in their field within the FMCG industry, manufacturing high volume products covering automated manufacturing processes.

The Manufacturing Plant Manager will help transform one of their key factories from good to great, working with a highly-willing and enthusiastic team to drive improvement activities across the plant and drive the future development of the site in the Basildon area.

Highly profitable, the group has undergone significant structural change over recent years; this change is now impacting their manufacturing plants through leadership changes, investment, and a strategic goal to increase capacity across their UK supply chain.

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is a critical role in driving localized strategy and improvement initiatives, with opportunities for future succession planning.

Roles and Responsibilities as an Engineering Manager

You will be a proven Operations Manager/Factory Manager/Manufacturing Manager/Plant Manager/Engineering Manager, with a track record of delivering improvements in culture, efficiency, and productivity. You understand what world-class operations look like and have previously led a business through similar transformation journeys. You can implement improvements and are familiar with the challenges involved, with a proven record of delivering results. You recognize the impact of leadership on culture and of culture on processes.

Key Requirements of the Engineering Manager

• A proven track record of managing and developing manufacturing operations within an automated or semi-automated environment
• Extensive experience utilizing lean and continuous improvement tools to drive efficiencies, e.g., OEE, TPM, 5S, VSM
• Experience managing budgets and capex
• Knowledge of engineering maintenance and plant-based improvements is advantageous but not essential
• A strong appreciation for health and safety, ideally supported by a formal qualification, although training can be provided
