As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.
It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.
Since then, British Airways has gone on to deliver game‑changing achievements. First we broke the record for the fastest transatlantic flight with Concorde. Then we became the very first airline to introduce fully lie‑flat seats on board.
It was our exceptional engineering teams that brought these pioneering and original ideas to life.
This is your chance to join one of the most diverse and innovative departments at British Airways, at a time when we’re re‑imagining the way we fly the skies.
This is a rare opportunity to join British Airways Engineering & Maintenance in a newly created senior strategy role, helping to build and shape a strategy team at the heart of one of the airline's most important functions.
Reporting to the Head of Strategy and working directly with the CTO and E&M Directors, you will play a leading role in defining the future direction of Engineering & Maintenance. You will own and drive the annual strategic planning process, lead high‑profile strategic projects, and provide the insight, challenge and recommendations that help shape key business decisions.
As one of the founding members of a newly formed team, this role offers the chance not only to influence E&M's long‑term strategy, but also to help establish the ways of working, capability and culture of a world‑class strategy function.
As a senior member of the Strategy team, you will:
We're seeking an exceptional strategist with strong analytical capability, sound commercial judgement and the ability to influence at the most senior levels.
You are curious, commercially minded and energised by solving complex problems. You combine strategic thinking with practical delivery and are comfortable navigating ambiguity to provide clarity and direction.
You are also a collaborative leader who builds strong relationships, inspires confidence and delivers high‑quality work at pace.
This is a senior Band 2 role with significant visibility and influence across Engineering & Maintenance and the wider British Airways organisation. The role is explicitly accountable for shaping E&M's future direction, leading strategic projects and acting as a trusted partner to senior leadership.
Most importantly, this is a chance to join at the beginning. As part of a newly established strategy function, you'll help build the team, define how it operates, and create lasting impact on the future of Engineering & Maintenance.
If you're excited by the prospect of shaping strategy, influencing major decisions and helping build a new capability from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you.
At British Airways we all have a part to play in creating an inclusive place to work. Diverse representation among our people is really important to us and we recognise that all our colleagues are uniquely different and bring their own originality, creativity and identity to work.
Inclusion and diversity is a key driver of innovation and we’re committed to creating a culture where everyone feels that they can be themselves. We’re looking for people from all backgrounds and cultures to join us and be a part of our journey to become a Better BA as we continue to connect Britain with the world and the world with Britain.
